ABOUT US

Sandstone is a structural engineering consultancy which provides technical input for residential developments. We have a keen eye on economic design without compromising on quality.

We pride ourselves on working together with Architect’s, Developers, and Contractors to extract the most out of every project from the initial concept, though to the design and construction. We respect each individual projects unique details, and ensure our clients are kept informed along a projects journey.

Our engineers share a wide range of industry experience from commercial to residential, which enables success in every project.

We specialise in residential developments to existing homes across the South-East and provide structural input for the following developments:

Extensions and new builds
Loft conversions
Internal remodelling and renovations

Our input on these developments include:

An initial site visits.
Structural design input at Stage 3,4 and 5.
Meeting with Contractor prior to commencement of works.

OUR ENGINEERS

Naseem Hafesji – MEng (hons), IStructE Member

With over 5 years of experience in residential and commercial development across the south-east, I have built a wealth of knowledge on a myriad of structural and architectural forms, from Tudor through to contemporary modern/organic.

Every building has a different story to tell, when developing existing buildings in-line with current safety and living standards the unique characteristics of said building must be tailored to with care. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all solution and respectfully consider the needs of the historic structure, to ensure harmony with the new elements.

Safi Al-Koud – MEng (hons), GMICE

Having worked in the residential and commercial market for over 4 years. I have gained a countless amount of experience working with international multi-disciplinary consultancy firms for the likes of Network Rail, TfL and different London Councils.

I have successfully led multiple projects from RIBA stage 1 (feasibility) to stage 5 (construction) using industry cutting-edge design techniques and software, utilising different construction materials such as timber, steel and reinforced concrete.

I recently contacted Safi from Sandstone Engineering for assistance with the removal of three chimney breasts and subsequently hired him to manage the construction work as well. From our first conversation, it was clear that Safi is passionate about his work. He took the time to clearly explain each step of the process—from planning and building control to the actual construction. Safi managed the entire project seamlessly and addressed any issues that arose with practical, effective solutions. I'm very happy with the final result and would highly recommend his services.

Naseem / Sandstone Engineering more than exceeded our expectations. We needed structural engineering services for a new full house renovation project. We have been very impressed from the outset. We appointed Sandstone Engineering for the structural drawings of our house extension and outbuilding. The drawings were done professionally and with great details. The structural engineer, Naseem Hafesji, came out to visit the property and went through the details with us. Naseem is very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. He was very kind and helped us update the drawings for the building control team and the party wall purposes. We would recommend Sandstone Engineering.
